Lime is a substance used since ancient times to make useful things like plaster and mortar. Lime is usually made by burning of limestone.

Chemically, lime is calcium oxide (CaO) and is made by roasting calcite (CaCO3) to wipe off carbon dioxide (CO₂).

Laying of Lime Concrete

The base where lime concrete is to be laid is prepared by cleaning, leveling and compacting by ramming properly.

Uses of eminently rich lime and Poor lime

It may be used for inferior and temporary structures. It also sets and hardens very slowly. It is used both for plastering and mortar making for inferior class of work.

It produces good mortar. It is suitable for good class of mortar, brick work and masonry.It is stronger than moderate type, used for good quality of works but the mortar must not contain unslaked coarse particles.
